Job Description:

Join GDIT as an IT Monitoring Specialist and be pivotal in maintaining our IT systems' performance and reliability. Your role focuses on proactive monitoring, rapid incident response, and effective troubleshooting, ensuring system stability for our critical operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively monitor IT systems, networks, servers, and applications, quickly identifying and resolving issues to maintain optimal performance.

  • Utilize advanced monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Nagios) for alert management, diagnosing issues efficiently and implementing effective solutions.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to resolve complex technical issues, documenting actions and outcomes for continuous improvement.

  • Streamline incident and change ticket management processes, enhancing system reliability and user experience.

  • Drive the development of monitoring and alerting procedures, ensuring systems are accurately reporting and responsive to threats.

  • Analyze system trends and logs to preemptively address and prevent recurring issues.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise in IT monitoring, with proficiency in tools like Dynatrace, Nagios, and SolarWinds.

  • Strong background in incident management, utilizing ITIL-based ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy).

  • Excellent problem-solving ability, especially under pressure.

  • Effective communication skills, capable of articulating technical details to diverse audiences.

  • Willingness to work flexible shifts to cover 24/7 operations.

  • Solid understanding of networking, server administration, and operating systems (Windows, Linux).

  • Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and core networking services (DNS, DHCP).

Certification:

  • CompTIA Security+ required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
