DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a trainee position that is responsible for operating highway construction and maintenance equipment and performing a variety of manual laboring duties on a highway or bridge maintenance crew.

In this position, the employee trains for licensing and certification to operate heavy construction equipment which includes at least the following: Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) and loader (LD) (bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less) on highway or bridge maintenance crews. The employee also learns to perform, and document required pre-and post-operation checks and make necessary field adjustments to permit safe operation and minimize wear. In addition, the employee operates a variety of hand and foot controls, utilizes seat belts and installs and removes tire chains on dual wheels.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work. Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.

Conditions of Employment: All positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.

Additional Requirement: You must be able to perform essential job functions.
