About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Industrial Operations, at Letterkenny Army Depot, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Responsibilities Install, and/or repair a variety of electronic components and electro-mechanical equipment. Perform certified soldering operations in accordance with IPC J-Standards. Integrate complex assemblies/sub-assemblies which perform complete electronic functions, to reach a common objective. Operate electronic test instruments. Troubleshoot both mechanical and electronic malfunctions to determine cause of failure and extent of repairs required. Interpret technical manuals that cover procedures and accepted trade practices. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision. These duties include: determining extent of repairs required on a variety of electronic equipment; 2) troubleshooting electronic malfunctions to determine cause of failure; and 3) applying familiarity with electronic components to independently complete work assignments. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (Screen-out Element) Ability To Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics Ingenuity (Ability To Suggest and Apply New Methods) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Theory of Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Use of Test Equipment: Electronics PHYSICAL EFFORT Work involves standing on concrete floors, bending, stooping, and kneeling and occasionally, cramped or awkward positions. Continuously handles objects weighing from 10 to 40 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Works in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated shop areas or missile sites where occasionally there is inclement weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, falls, and broken bones, and shock or burns caused by high voltage energy and soldering irons. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. This is a Logistics Career Field (CF) position (formerly Career Program 17 Materiel Maintenance Management). Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
