Brief Job Description

  • The Content Accessibility Support Specialist will collaborate with Instructional Design and Distance Learning team to identify inaccessible content within the learning management system.

  • Run Ally reports to evaluate content accessibility on a macro college and department level.

  • Establish need and create best practice methodology to address accessibility need on campus.

  • Support faculty in remediation of inaccessible content.

  • Provide small group and one-on-one training for faculty and students on accessibility.

  • Participate as a member of the Electronic Information & Technology Accessibility ( EITA ) team on campus.

  • Selected and hired candidate will be provided opportunities for professional development to keep abreast of changing standards and assistive technology.

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, library science, computer science, health and human services or any related programs.

  • Progressive experience working in the field of accessibility, servicing individuals with disabilities.

  • Knowledge of WCAG (Web Accessibility Guidelines) standards.

  • Knowledge of SUNY EITA (Electronic Information & Technology Accessibility) initiatives. (https://www.suny.edu/accessibility/eit/).

  • Excellence in communication and organizational skills.

  • Experience in providing one-on-one and/or providing small group training.

  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Anthology Ally accessibility tool in a learning management system.

  • Experienced in implementing instructional content accessibility standards.

  • Have prior knowledge or training in the understanding of accessibility standards and UDL .

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat products and accessibility checkers.

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the use of assistive technology, like text-to-speech programs, to test products and educational content as needed.
