Brockton Hospital Telecommunications Technician in Brockton, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

Working under the General Direction of the Manager of Telecommunications, the Telecommunications Technician is responsible for the service, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment in all Signature Healthcare buildings, including but not limited to the phone system, ACD system, voice mail system, call accounting system, in-house and long-range pager system, associated software and hardware, telephones, cable plant, emergency cell phones, emergency radios, and all telecom peripheral equipment as required.

This is a full-time 40 hour/ week position

Education/Experience/Licenses/Technical/Other:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in telecommunications or related field experience preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of five years hands-on experience working in the telecommunications field required. In-depth technical knowledge of, and strong hands-on experience working with NEC communications equipment and associated telecommunications systems required. AVST voice mail experience preferred. Avaya and Octel experience a plus. Experience with IP telephony installations and applications preferred. Strong working knowledge of, and hands-on experience with cabling and cable termination requirements and certification techniques. Experience working with networked computer software and hardware and mechanical aptitude required. Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills required. Experience installing and configuring networked computer hardware and software preferred.

  • Certification/Licensure: Technical certifications relating to the installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment preferred. Technical certifications in computer networking preferred.
