Postdoctoral position and Research Associate position are available in the Matter-by-Design group of Prof. Zunger at the CU Boulder Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI).

Prof. Zunger Research program is a highly productive and highly cited Condensed Matter Theory group located in the beautiful city of Boulder nested in the Rocky Mountains. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Successful candidates will have a strong background in fundamental physics, electronic structure theory, and modern computational approaches to solids.

  • The positions will involve theoretical and computational identification of oxide and halide perovskites with target physical properties ("Inverse Design") related to Quantum Materials functionalities ranging from doping, chirality, anti-ferromagnetism, metal-insulator transition and energy applications.

What You Should Know

  • Research Associate is a title granted to persons holding the doctor's degree or its equivalent and whose academic qualifications may be comparable to the regular faculty ranks of Assistant Professor. It would be used for persons possessing the terminal degree who show demonstrated promise of research contributions.

  • The position is for up to 3 years based on mutual agreement, performance, and availability of continued funding. The position is available fall 2024.

The Research Associate position is for up to 3 years based on mutual agreement, performance, and availability of continued funding. Commensurate with experience. $55,000 - $68,000 per year.

What We Require

  • Research Associate should hold a doctoral degree and have the academic qualifications comparable to the regular faculty ranks of Assistant Professor.

What You Will Need

  • Outstanding candidates are sought with the following qualifications and requirements:

  • Proven record of significant research contributions in the modeling of materials.

  • Proficiency in scientific software development and high-performance computing.

  • Ph.D. in theoretical/computational physics, materials science, or a related field.

  • High-level proficiency in communication skills.
