SciTec Engineering Manager - Software and Algorithms in Boulder, Colorado

We support customers throughout the Department of Defense and U.S. Government in building innovative new tools to deliver unique world-class data exploitation capabilities.

SciTec has an immediate opportunity for a talented Algorithm Technical Lead to support programs focusing on Image and Digital Signal Processing, State Estimation, and Classification for exploitation of data from remote sensing systems (ground-based, airborne and space-based). The Technical Lead’s key responsibilities include providing guidance and development of technical baselines as well as development and mentorship of technical staff. This individual must have strong project organizational skills that empowers technical teams to meet program objectives. An ability to communicate with business leadership, program management, and customer stakeholders is essential for this position. Candidates should have a passion for learning, teaching, and developing cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical guidance to teams aligned with program milestones

  • Communicating with Business Leadership and Program Management to establish program objectives, assessing risks, and establishing Agile program plans

  • Researching new data processing algorithms and analysis techniques for remote sensor data exploitation

  • Developing proof-of-concept signal processing, image processing, and data exploitation tools in languages such as MATLAB, Python, and C++

  • Characterizing quality/performance of algorithms and sensor systems

  • Software development of algorithms supporting Signal and Image Processing, State Estimation, and Classification in Python and C++

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 8+ years ongoing academic or professional experience working with Python, MATLAB, or C++

  • 3+ years of experience of designing technical software applications using Agile processes

  • 5+ years ongoing academic or professional experience with state estimation, signal processing, or statistics

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams in delivering technical software applications

  • Identifies technical risks and provides risk reduction strategies to meet program objectives

  • Experience developing Agile plans for technical development

  • Ability to build strong team relationships and mentor technical staff

  • Ability to communicate with Business Leadership, Program Management, and customer stakeholders

  • Experience with developing technology for defense community stakeholders in data exploitation technologies

  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science

  • Candidate must be able to obtain and keep a SECRET DoD security clearance

  • Candidate must be able to support complex data analysis

  • Detail oriented

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Candidates who have one or more of the following skills will be preferred

  • Advanced degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science

  • Experience with exploitation of Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Multi-/Hyper-spectral Imagery (MSI/HSI), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), or Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) data.

  • Advanced experience with machine learning, image processing, and/or filtering algorithms and their application to data extraction and classification

  • Current DoD security clearance

The pay range for this position is $130,000 - $201,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills. This is not a guarantee of compensation.
