American Tower Senior Director, Global IT Audit in Boston, Massachusetts

Join our dynamic Global Internal Audit (GIA) department at American Tower, a leading global provider of wireless infrastructure. As the Sr. Director of Global IT Audit, you will play a pivotal role within our organization, reporting directly to the Vice President of Internal Audit. What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business, or a related field is required.

  • A master’s degree is preferred.

  • A minimum of 15 years in IT audit or information systems, including at least 8 years in a leadership role, preferably with experience in a global or multicultural environment

  • Must hold CISA, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent information security credentials.

  • Proficiency in security and controls frameworks (ISO, CoBiT, COSO, NIST) is essential.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills are required, along with adaptability and agility to navigate the evolving IT landscape.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a diverse team of audit professionals in a collaborative and results-driven environment.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary for articulating complex IT risks and controls to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Willingness to travel approximately 10–15%, including potential international destinations, to fulfill job responsibilities.

What You Can Offer Us

  • Define and lead the strategic direction for IT audit within GIA, spearheading initiatives that enhance IT audit methodologies, risk assessments, and planning. Your role will involve setting the tone for how IT risks are managed and audited, ensuring alignment with our global strategy.

  • Conduct comprehensive IT audit risk assessments, developing an annual IT audit plan in collaboration with GIA leadership. You will manage global resources and budgets, ensuring our audit practices are both efficient and effective.

  • Lead and guide global IT audits, providing expert advice to GIA managers and senior staff. Oversee the Sarbanes-Oxley process for IT controls, ensuring thorough planning, execution, and remediation monitoring.

  • Deliver clear, actionable audit findings through comprehensive reports, influencing change and ensuring the implementation of management's action plans. Your communication skills will bridge the gap between complex IT risks and strategic decision-making.

  • Actively engage in global IT projects, advising on system implementations, cybersecurity measures, and automation, while maintaining auditor objectivity and independence.

  • Build and maintain robust relationships with external auditors, coordinating efforts to enhance efficiency and communication, ensuring a unified approach to IT audit across the organization.

  • As a Senior Director, Global IT Audit you are responsible for the recruitment, performance management and career development of IT Audit Manager and Senior IT Auditors. You’ll also be expected to cultivate a collaborative team dynamic that enables us to meet our business objectives.
