Delivers patient medication orders as directed by a registered pharmacist. Sorts and transports medications throughout the hospital complex/nursing units following established protocols and techniques.

The Courier will be required to work weekdays: 5 hours a day 4 days per week from 8:00am-1:00pm OR 4 hours a day 5 days per week from 7:00am -12:00pm.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Delivers individual medications to nursing units and collects new medication orders PRN bags according to established procedures and schedules.

• Maintains professional interactions with Nursing and Pharmacy Management staff.

• Handles medications in accordance with established confidentiality policies, procedures and standards. Keeps work area neat and orderly and free of fire and safety hazards.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine. Ability to understand and respond to written or verbal instructions.

• Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information.

• Work occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors which involve courtesy.

Requirements

• High School / GED

• Pharmacy Technician experience may be helpful
