Job Summary:

Responsible for regionalized safety supervision of site safety managers/reps. Supporting the Site PM & Regional EHS Manager to ensure personnel, materials, equipment and work environments achieve safety effectiveness and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety, Health & Environmental Compliance:

  • Supervise daily work crew of field personnel

  • Anticipate, Recognize, Evaluate and Mitigate Safety & Health factors in the workplace

  • Provide field personnel with timely interpretation in support of resolution of field issues

  • Evaluate & Update Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for accuracy

  • Evaluate Site Hazards and develop JSA and Task Specific Lift and Fall Protection Plans

  • Conduct and Participate daily & weekly toolbox and safety meetings

  • Provide mentoring to field personnel in regard to safety & health

  • Accident and incident investigation & reporting occurring to all employees, visitors, subcontractors and others

  • Manage Return to Work / Light Duty for Injured workers.

  • Liaison with AIS Workers Compensation Coordinator

  • COVID-19 Coordination

  • Immediately correct any unsafe condition; document and advise proper chain of command

  • Ensure appropriate follow-through for any safety related infraction

  • Provide assistance to establish priorities and procedures to correct any safety violation

  • Maintain a system for reporting, monitoring and correcting all safety problems. Document all issues and corrective actions taken

  • Assists in preparing safety policies and procedures; implement all policies and procedures

  • Participates and advises the Corporate Safety Committee and maintains close communication with administration in matters of safety requiring management action

  • Perform daily jobsite inspections for any conditions that pose potential safety problems. Document all inspections.

  • Enforce Safety requirements and disciplinary action as needed

  • Assist the Corporate Office & Site Personnel with establishing and maintaining an effective EHS Program

  • Perform EHS Assessments of work activities

  • Assist management with EHS Compliance concerns

  • Evaluate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Systems for adequacy

  • Ensure Site EHS Records are documented in Vista PM-08 Safety.

  • EHS application and software data entry into EHS Insight

  • Perform Audits of EHS Documentation in Vista

  • Ensure Employees onsite have required training/certifications for their scope of work

  • Run Audit Reports within Vista as needed (training, certifications, etc.)

  • Provide weekly look ahead to Division Management and update Shared Safety Calendar with activities.

  • Attends weekly meetings with Corporate Safety Dept. as requested.

  • Trains, counsels, advises site personnel on all safety issues

  • While it is impossible to list every duty that may be asked of an employee, the Employer may ask that an employee do other duties as the business need arises

  • Maintain confidential information regarding the company and/or its personnel

  • Attend meetings with Owner/Client and management

Key Requirements and Education Experience:

  • OSHA 500 Certification

  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations for the construction industry.

  • Competent knowledge and application of the safety principles and practices listed above.

  • Must have a broad working knowledge in the theory and practice of IH including methods, procedures, and techniques used in collecting samples and testing for health hazards common in the industrial painting business.

  • Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Must have excellent writing abilities in the preparation and delivery of safety plans, reports, training materials, investigations, and other written correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively work with all levels of people from entry level laborers to Project Leaders, Division Managers, corporate office staff, and public officials.

  • No less than three (3) years' experience in Safety or IH management.

  • Computer proficient using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Windows, Outlook, etc.)

  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision.

  • Valid Driver's license, clean driving record, vehicle insurance, reliable and legal transportation.

  • JSA's are current in relation to the current task and associated hazards

  • Daily jobsite inspections are conducted, and the findings are communicated to the field personnel

  • Field personnel are knowledgeable in safety & health and are able to recognize hazards

  • Open Communication between field personnel and supervision

  • Accurate documentation of safety & health records

  • PPE is adequate

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field of study preferred

  • Five (5) years' experience in a similar position preferred

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
