Responsibilities

We are seeking aStudent Radiologic Technologist (PRN),internally referred to as our Student Rad Tech at St Mary’s Medical Center a member of Prime Healthcare. As a Student Radiologic Technologist, you will learn and gain practical experience in all aspects of radiologic technology working independently of a technologist. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PRN.

This is an entry-level position designed to help those currently in a Radiology Technologist Program, if you are wanting to learn from the best, St Mary’s Medical Center is here to help your career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • perform Diagnostic Radiographic or other procedures according to department protocols, working independently of a Radiologic Technologist

  • learn to perform a variety of radiographic examinations, including X-rays and fluoroscopy

  • understand how to evaluate image quality, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain equipment performance to meet established standards

  • gain knowledge of how to gauge if X-ray equipment is functioning properly and that images meet quality standards, which may involve performing equipment checks, calibrations, and troubleshooting as needed

  • interact with patients to explain procedures, address concerns, and ensure their comfort and safety during X-ray examinations with assistant from a Rad Tech

  • maintain accurate records of X-ray procedures, including patient information, images, and relevant medical history

  • encouraged to participate in professional development activities, such as attending conferences, workshops, and seminars, to stay current with advancements in radiologic technology and healthcare practices

  • operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images, learn proper techniques for radiation protection, shielding, and monitoring to ensure safe and effective imaging procedures

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING:

  • high school diploma or equivalent required

  • currently attending an accredited health care educational program for radiologic technology

  • meet state requirements for exemption from licensing to operate x-ray equipment. Documentation of state exemption required in personnel file

  • completion of their first year curriculum requirements

  • current BCLS (AHA)

  • at least one year of clinical experience in the radiology technologist program required

  • proficient computer skills
