Job Description

This position is responsible for the quality inspection of high-precision mechanical components in an ISO 9001 environment. The technician shall read and interpret blueprints in ASME Y14.5 format and appropriately apply common precision metrology tools such as micrometers, calipers, and test indicators to ensure conformance to specifications and tolerances. Accurately complete inspection records and other paperwork per procedures. Work with team members on the creation of non-conforming material reports. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment such as a machine shop.

  • Read and interpret ASME Y14.5 blueprints and specifications.

  • Measure materials and products with precision measurement equipment as required.

  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications and workmanship; conducts visual and measurement tests; works with supervisors for dispositioning unacceptable materials.

  • Approves products in-process by confirming specifications and workmanship; conducts visual and measurement tests; works with supervisors for dispositioning unacceptable materials.

  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications and workmanship; conducts visual and measurement tests; works with supervisors for dispositioning unacceptable materials.

  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; files data in accordance with procedures.

  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; arranges for repairs.

  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
