Job Summary:

The Commodity Manager will provide leadership in sourcing electronic commodities including PCBAs, cables, electronic components, and key technology commodities. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing supplier sourcing and initiating cost savings projects and opportunities. The job will drive the process of locating and maintaining the best sources of supply for the components, materials, and services for Teledyne FLIR. This role is critical to the overall operational performance and financial health of the organization due to the scale and impact of the supply chain, sourcing decisions, and supplier capacity and capabilities. This is an individual contributor position and does not have direct reports.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead supplier evaluation and selection for PCBA, cables and electronic components.

  • Lead negotiator for key technology, source directed items.

  • Manage competitive quoting process to drive cost savings and negotiate long-term agreements.

  • Develop new supplier capabilities/competencies through strategic supplier partnerships to generate competitive advantages.

  • Develop small business Suppliers including Woman, Veteran, Service Disabled, Disadvantage and HUBZone to meet or exceed Government requirements.

  • Manage supplier New Product Introduction (NPI) in collaboration with cross functional teams including Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering and Operations.

  • Develop strategic sourcing plans, supplier risk assessments and monitor supplier performance.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams on cost reduction projects, priorities, and goals.

  • Maintain Purchasing procedures in relation to Global Trade Compliance and ISO procedures.

  • Liaison with Legal Department in relation to Terms & Conditions and Contracts with Buyers and Suppliers.

  • Identify cost drivers, risk/opportunities, and manufacturing feasibility.

Job Qualifications:

  • 7 – 10+ years of experience sourcing activities for electronic commodities.

  • BS in in business management or electrical engineering preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience in Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR), Technical Assistance Agreements, and Military Regulations (EAR and ITAR) preferred.

  • Strong negotiating and organization skills.

  • Track record in achieving cost savings.

  • Technical knowledge of PCBA and Cable manufacturing, including molded cables preferred.

  • Self-directed to create and implement action plans for cost saving and lead-time reductions.

  • ERP experience, SAP preferred.

  • Strong analytical and written communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

  • Able and willing to travel to suppliers as needed.
