Job Description:

Our client is currently looking for a Hardware Compliance Engineer to lead safety, compliance, and certification efforts for products. The Hardware Compliance Engineer will collaborate with a team to develop new products and maintain existing ones, define compliance requirements, and coordinate with third-party testing labs for final reports. This role demands a deep understanding of regulatory compliance schemes for product safety, machine safety (especially in robotics), functional safety, and EMC across domestic and international markets. The Hardware Compliance Engineer will also be responsible for updating existing products to meet evolving regulatory requirements and preparing technical documentation for third-party evaluations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Serve as the safety and regulatory compliance subject matter expert for hardware products.

  • Navigate newly developed hardware devices through a growing set of international compliance standards.

  • Work directly with EE, ME, SE, and SDE team members to develop and validate high-performing design solutions.

  • Translate safety standards into clear product requirements and test plans.

  • Drive key compliance and safety-related deliverables.

  • Define requirements, own technical documentation, and coordinate testing efforts with external labs or regulatory bodies.

  • Help EE and ME counterparts overcome compliance and certification challenges throughout all design, testing, and validation phases.

  • Establish procedures and guidelines to ensure that industry and regulations are followed both nationally and internationally.

  • Participate in the engineering design reviews to ensure that the necessary requirements are fulfilled.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineer or a related technical field with 7+ years of experience.

  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical or mechanical design, validation, and debugging.

  • Experience with EU Machinery Safety Standards.

  • Prior exposure to compliance standards (i.e., EN 60204, EN 10218, EN 61000-6, EN 61010, EN 13849, etc.).

  • Strong interest in learning and professional training in regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to learn complex systems quickly and work independently.

  • Experience resolving EMC issues is preferred.

  • Functional Safety Certification is preferred.
