Amazon Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, Supply Chain Science in Bellevue, Washington

We are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to help design cutting-edge scientific solutions to optimize our American fulfillment strategy, improving our Customer Experience and minimizing our cost and carbon footprint.

Your main role will be developing complex and robust data pipelines, ensuring we are consuming the highest quality data in our models. Your expertise in cloud architecture will enable us to use scalable and cost-effective infrastructure, enhancing the efficiency of our overall scientific solutions. Additionally, you will be encouraged to introduce innovative ideas to influence and enhance the organization's BI architecture, promoting continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with business, operations and technical stakeholders and leaders, assisting their decision-making by analyzing and deep diving into data. You will be proactive in identifying new business opportunities and proposing data-driven improvements to enhance our Supply Chain. You will also lead meetings with senior managers, and directors, adjusting your communication to fit the audience. Your skill in managing these conversations will be crucial for keeping our strategies aligned and making progress across the board.

Your job will involve breaking down complex problems into manageable tasks. You will need deep analytical skills and a solid scientific background for this role, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence people at different levels of the business. Additionally, you'll be guiding and mentoring other Business Intelligence Engineers, setting an example for them to follow and helping them grow in their roles.

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex data pipelines to ensure high-quality data consumption in modeling.

  • Design a scalable and cost effective cloud infrastructure for enhance scientific solutions.

  • Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to diverse senior stakeholders through technical and/or business papers.

  • Manage several, high impact projects simultaneously.

  • Consult and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders across multiple teams to define new opportunities to optimize our Supply Chain.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional or military experience

  • 7+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience working as a BIE in a technology company

  • Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions

  • Experience with AWS technologies

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

  • Experience with operations/supply chain

  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
