Description

Amazon is looking for a Senior Program Manager with a strong delivery record and proven project management experience to own strategic, tactical, cross-functional and technology projects and programs across multiple verticals. This role requires scoping and creating project plans, developing processes, coordinating and driving execution, and communicating to senior management on status, risks and process/product changes. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills are essential. The ideal candidate will leverage extensive project management experience, combined with deep analytical capabilities and a keen sense of innovation, to lead complex projects from conception to completion.

We are seeking a Senior Program Manager to effectively manage the creation and enhancement of our supply chain and transportation networks. In this role, you will scope large projects, track project timelines, and develop mechanisms for communicating status, risk, and business challenges. The ideal candidate must be adept at cross-team coordination, project management, and data analysis, with a proven history of delivering results.

Key job responsibilities

  • Prioritize and balance multiple high-level projects and process improvements aimed at enhancing long-term network capacity and planning efficiency.

  • Define, set up a framework, prioritize, and monitor key milestones towards realizing your vision and strategic objectives.

  • Formulate action plans and navigate through challenges to meet long-term network topology optimization goals.

  • Secure backing for your strategy and roadmap from stakeholders by crafting narratives and persuading peers and top leadership.

  • Steer the frequency and content of program updates, and offer insights for various strategic, business, and operational evaluations.

  • Collaborate with different business, operational, and technical groups to shape strategic choices.

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to pinpoint opportunities and then articulate the solutions, expenses, and business rationale for addressing them.

  • Monitor crucial indicators to assess network health and collaborate with analysts to automate data reporting.

  • Build Forecasting tools leading teams with advanced investigative, mathematical, and quantitative capabilities.

  • Supply chain planning and delivery capacity planning.

  • Develop deep understanding of transportation planning and optimization tools.

  • Partner with product, technical, operations and other network planning teams to build scalable solutions.

A day in the life

The role will involve understanding the transportation processes from customer order fulfillment to last mile delivery. You will own managing business plans and will drive automation in the planning management process. You will lead monthly and quarterly operational long-term planning cycles with cross-functional stakeholders. You will use your understanding of operational processes, data analysis, and business goals to identify specific opportunities to improve transportation costs, speed, and capacity, through volume, carrier, and sort center planning improvements. The ability to effectively balance the roadmap of various projects with the management of the Network Strategy Planning process and resolution of network capacity is critical.

We are seeking a candidate to join Global Logistics (GL) for the role of Senior Program Manager, Exports Strategic Planning. The Global Logistics Exports Strategic Planning team is looking for a Senior Program Manager to develop the Network Strategy (long, mid, and short-term planning) function for Amazon’s cross-border B2C shipments. In this highly visible role, this person will help create a best-in-class transportation network for the North American marketplace to deliver packages to international customers by leading initiatives that ensure capacity throughout the supply chain can meet projected long-term demand. This role is essential in designing and implementing strategic volume planning and capacity management improvements that make the exports network more efficient so it can scale with our aggressive growth. This role involves working cross-functionally across multiple geographies (NA, EU, JP) and implementing the best practices of supply chain network topology optimization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, finance or related technical or quantitative field

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Master's degree

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience of Six Sigma/Lean analytical techniques

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
