Peter Danielson with Robert Half is seeking candidates who have a knack for leading with high standards, positively motivating others, and making critical decisions and have experience taking charge of an accounting department, for a Controller position at a reputable company. The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can lead with integrity and reliability and have the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. Your responsibilities

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques

  • Act on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

    Requirements - Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

  • GAAP Accounting experience required

  • Solid understanding of month end closings

  • Proficiency in Financial Statement

  • Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
