Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works Business Partner CLS Staff in Bay City, Michigan

Summary: This is a self-determination CLS staff position through Bay Arenac Behavioral Health where employees are responsible for providing one-on-one community living support services (CLS) to our 22-year-old daughter who is mildly autistic, but also has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Employees are expected to work alongside clients and to help them achieve their goals predetermined by the Person-Centered Plan (PCP). Goal categories include housekeeping, cooking, socialization, and personal safety. Must have reliable transportation and a clear background check. Must have experience working with Autism and/or Behavioral Health.

We would prefer a candidate who has taken some college courses and is working towards a career in either an Educational, Healthcare, or Social Work field.

Typical shifts are 12 hours, 3 days a week, and a consistent schedule. Flexibility is desired to work with other team members for daily staff coverage. Shift availability at this time is on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (may change) from either 7 am - 7 pm or 8 am - 8 pm dependent upon night shift staff hours.

You are paid weekly by a financial fiduciary (local CPA) and reimbursed for mileage also.

Salary: $18.00 -$21.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

Responsible for follow through of the individual's Person-Centered Plan (PCP).

Provide assistance, modeling, encouragement, prompting and instruction while helping client reach their goals.

Responsible for assisting the client in reaching her goals in productive and creative ways.

Responsible for written documentation of individual's performance including progress notes, timesheets, and accurate mileage logs after each shift.

Responsible for safely transporting the client to any appointments, and community/family activities.

Assist the client with food preparation, shopping, housekeeping, and other errands.

Provide support for assistance with independence, coping skills, personal hygiene, behaviors, and community integration.

Oversee medication and prescription usage and appointment reminders.

Skills:

Prior work experience as a CLS employee and be a positive team member.

Experience in autism and developmental disabilities.

Experience in behavioral health and coping strategies.

Must be able to remain calm during situations and not take things personally.

Must have compassion, good communication, patience, empathy, flexibility, and time management skills.

Must be reliable and report to work as scheduled and on time, with willingness to pick up extra shifts as needed.

Must be able to set good healthy boundaries and demonstrate firmness without getting upset.

Must be familiar with recipient rights, HIPPA, and basic first aid.

Familiarity with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome a plus.
