Position is located: Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center

Work Type: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 40.00

Work Schedule: 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM

Summary:

It is the responsibility of the Licensed Utility Engineer to safely operate and help maintain the equipment and systems in the Heat and Power Plant.

Responsibilities:

  • Team-working with other staff to solve problems and assist all members in completing assigned tasks

  • Goal Maintain minimum 95% equipment uptime.

  • Operation of Turbine generator, boilers and associated boiler room equipment, tools and controls. Does regular, scheduled inspection of equipment. to observe and report operating conditions. Must be able to perform scheduled tasks in off shifts.

  • Completes scheduled work and Emergency repairs. Call-ins to appropriate Engineering staff as needed. Helps contractors complete their work for the department.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

  • Is willing to work and provide necessary support to the Department. Seeks to improve processes, reliability, and procedures. Uses appropriate safety measures and equipment.

  • Walk around inspections for fire safety and equipment operation. Reports unusual activities and observations to Supervisor and/or Security personnel. Keeps work area and tools in a clean, safe and secure condition.

  • Helps maintain expenses under budget.

  • Departmental fuel expense budget is met.

  • Department supplies expense budget is met.

  • Department contracts and purchased services expense budget is met.

  • Seeks and supports change in job & organization. Is willing to try new things to help the department and hospital.

  • Maintains professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, workshops, etc.

  • Attends all mandatory hospital and departmental education programs

  • Learns new equipment, processes, etc. and helps train co-workers.
