Johns Hopkins University Research Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Cognitive Science at Johns Hopkins University is seeking a full-time Research Coordinator to work in the Computational Cognitive Neuroscience Lab. The Research Coordinator will work on projects involving fMRI, EEG, behavioral testing, and computational modeling of vision and cognition. The position is particularly suited for a recent graduate from a Neuroscience, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science or related program who is seeking to work in an innovative research environment in preparation for graduate school. This is a full-time position funded by a grant that ends January 2028.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Running Experiments

  • Recruit and interact with study participants and run experiments in the lab (fMRI, EEG, behavioral), as well as online behavioral experiments with platforms such as Amazon Mechanical Turk.

  • Perform administrative responsibilities associated with these experiments, including maintaining lab records, uploading and organizing data, and managing IRB documentation and reviews.

  • Off-campus visits to the Kennedy Krieger Institute may be necessary to conduct fMRI scanning.

Maintaining Infrastructure

  • Maintain lab equipment, including EEG equipment, lab computers.

  • Manage data storage, including lab accounts on the Rockfish cluster and cloud-based storage services.

Research Projects

  • Assist with the research projects of students and postdocs and may work on their own independent research project. These projects will involve a combination of behavior, fMRI, EEG, and computational modeling.

  • Participate in all aspects of experiment design, analysis, and communication, including creating stimuli and experimental protocols, collecting and analyzing data, writing up results for publication, and presenting findings at conferences.

Additional

  • Interact with outside vendors.

  • Assist with coordinating lab meetings, talks, conference trips and visits.

  • Assist with manuscript preparation and submission.

  • Facilitate research supply purchasing, subject payments, and lab-related expenditures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Computer Science or related program

  • Some prior research experience

  • Experience with scientific computing (Matlab, Python, or R)

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
