The Amazon OTS Data Tech Team is looking for Software Development Engineers who are passionate, innovative and have a strong drive to automate and optimize big data pipelines along with our Data Engineering team. This team is responsible for creation of a data platform that will enable end users to quickly onboard and search their data. The team will deliver innovative technical solutions to enable our business verticals to make the proper business decisions to keep up with the massive growth in Amazon Operations capabilities around the globe.

Our team's mandate is to design, develop, and operate the next generation of data platforms that allow for internal Amazon business verticals to ingest and visualize their data at scale. We're looking for entrepreneurial and innovative individuals who thrive on solving tough problems. This is a high ownership role, we value your ideas and are looking for people who want to help innovate and who is a self-starter.

Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work in a highly collaborative environment. As an Amazon Software Development Engineer, you will help tackle a diverse landscape of technical problems. We are an early-stage initiative, and you will play an active role in translating business requirements into concrete systems and prototyping concepts in partnership with Amazon, technology leaders within the team and across the business.

You will design, develop and deploy reliable distributed solutions that operate at Amazon scale. You will work with a variety of core languages and technologies including Python, Scala, NodeJS, Linux, NoSQL, SQL and AWS services. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and will have the opportunity to work alongside talented Amazon engineers to redefine our data platform. Along the way, we guarantee that you’ll learn a ton, have fun and make a positive impact on many people.

Key job responsibilities

You will own in partnership with the Data Architect the infrastructure as code, CDK, and helping hold the amazon Coding Bar for DataTech and OTS wide data strategy initiatives.

The SDE will lead integration with cross functional teams and drive code reviews for DataTech and partner teams supporting our Data as a Product strategy.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
