Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

Entry level

Grants/Sponsored Projects

  • Assist in routing and submitting of research proposals.

  • Work closely with the PIs to facilitate the process of

  • Large purchases requiring SPOs, sole source justifications, and/or scope of work documentation.

  • Submission and payment of invoices in a timely manner.

  • Assist in submission and payment of invoices in a timely manner.

  • For department-funded pilot grant awards, assist in

  • Sending out funding opportunity deadlines.

  • Collecting grant proposals

  • Coordinating meetings for the research review committee to review and rank proposals.

Billing/Procurement/Finance

  • Maintain Smartsheet research services billing databases.

  • Processing POs, S/POs, including sole source justifications, payments vouchers, and/or scope of work documentation at CU Marketplace.

Other

  • Serve as back-up to the CURIC receptionist/scheduler, when needed.

  • Other duties assigned as needed and training permits.

Intermediate level

Grants/Sponsored Projects

All of the above and including:

  • Work closely with the PIs to facilitate the process of requesting, executing, tracking, and reconciling subcontracts.

  • Notify the PI of contractual issues and potential problems.

  • For department-funded pilot grant awards, assist in sending out Notice of Awards, reconciling award financial statements, assist with collecting and distributing annual Progress Reports, final reports and No-Cost Extension requests.

Billing/Procurement/Finance

  • Work with the imaging technicians, scheduler, PIs/lab directors to facilitate the process of

  • Tracking and billing PIs for research scan services (i.e. PET/CT, PET/MR, QIA, RECIST reads) provided by CURIC and other cost centers managed by the department.

  • Tracking and maintaining records of expenses for audit, cost study development, and for other reporting purposes.

  • Collecting, tracking and generating billing reports to CU Medicine for imaging research services (protocol review and research reads) provided by the radiologists, under a contractual agreement between CU Medicine and CHCO Research Institute.

Other

  • Assist the Vice Chair of Research, faculty moderators, and Research Program Director in planning department-sponsored research events, including the monthly research seminar series, annual research mini-retreats, research workshops, etc.

  • Update and maintain Smartsheet databases that track travel requests and expenses, international research scholar visas, intramural awards, etc.

Senior level

All of the above and including:

Grants/Sponsored Projects

  • Responsible for routing and submitting of research proposals.

  • Work directly with Subcontractor, PI and Post-Award Office to resolve issues.

  • Notify the PI of contractual issues and potential problems.

  • For department-funded pilot grant awards, responsible for

  • Coordinating meetings for the research review committee to review and rank proposals.

  • Sending out Notice of Awards, requesting award ST#s, reconciling award financial statements.

  • Collecting and distributing annual Progress Reports, final reports and No-Cost Extension requests.

  • Submitting the project to the statistical analysis team to be completed

  • Collecting SOW and price quotes

  • Tracking invoices and processing payments

  • Managing the Smartsheet database that collects this information.

  • Regular monitoring of department, research section webpage; submit requests for updates to the web specialist.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • One (1) year clinical research or related experience

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in databases and data entry procedures

  • Experience utilizing Smartsheet to create, and edit sheets, dashboards, reports, and generate forms.

  • Experience utilizing MS Outlook; experience will include utilizing electronic mail and calendars and electronically scheduling meetings, appointments, and conferences.

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Word to develop, edit and update reports, letters, and correspondence.

  • Intermediate to advanced user of Excel

  • Knowledge of federal grant and contract regulations and policies

  • Experience managing the grant application process.

  • One (1) to two (2) years of research or related experience.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology.

The Department of Radiology has a full-time (1.0 FTE) opening for a Research Services Program Support Professional. This person will provide support in pre and post award activities of the basic and translational research program, finance, procurement, coordinating research events, and other and administrative activities. In addition, this person will be responsible for tracking, billing, and managing the imaging research services of cost centers, and other contractual research services managed by the department, including CU Research Imaging Center (CURIC). This position will report to the Research Services Program Director and will assist in planning, organizing, and managing the research program and services by providing administrative, operational, and financial support. This position will work independently, but also cooperatively and collaboratively with the Vice Chair of Research, PIs, clinical faculty, research, and administrative staff within and outside the department and University of Colorado system.
