    Location:Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center – Aurora, CO

    Job Summary:

    Vighter is seeking Psych Registered Nurses to join our dynamic healthcare team and make a significant impact on the well-being of the veteran community served by the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center. We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate professionals to provide exceptional patient care. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a collaborative team, dedicated to advancing patient health.

    Reports to:

  • Project Manager

    Principle Accountabilities:

  • Conduct initial assessment on patients; develop nursing care plans based on identified patient needs, coordinate with ancillary services to assure provision of care, document all plans, assessments and care provided.

  • Provide patient and family education throughout the hospitalization. Initiate discharge planning.

  • Document observations, assessments, and changes in patients’ condition.

  • Collaborate with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes

  • Provide a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems.

  • Provide care to an array of psychiatric patients including, but not limited to substance abuse, detoxification, major thought disorders, depression, and PTSD.

  • Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Registered Nurse to preserve the health of employees and client personnel.

  • Systematically assesses the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyzes data, and formulates a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic in relation to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.

  • Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensure and regulations of state employment or practice.

  • Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.

  • Identifies and records signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.

  • Thoroughly exercises skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making daily.

  • Makes independent judgments and prioritizes workload.

  • Demonstrates proven success in stressful environments.

  • Pursues professional development activities and continuing education to ensure currency with present practices and trends in healthcare and specifically in the practice of emergency medical treatment.

  • Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.

  • Adheres to strict personal protective equipment guidelines as necessary and/or directed.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any US state or territory.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program.

  • Basic Life Support/BLS (AHA or ARC).

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support/ACLS (AHA or ARC).

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

  • United States Citizenship.

    Experience:

  • 2+ years of psychiatric experience.
