Job duties:

This position provides medical and psychiatric diagnoses, assessment, and treatment of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness in an inpatient and outpatient setting at Riverview Psychiatric Center. Some of the responsibilities of this position include assessing, diagnosing and treating psychiatric and/or co-morbid illness; prescribing medications; determining the need for, ordering and interpreting diagnostic test results; making the determination on the need for involuntary hospital commitment; leading a multidisciplinary team and overseeing the development and implementation of treatment plans; providing input on discharge plans; and referring patients to other healthcare providers and/or community resources as needed. This position also collaborates with Hospital Psychiatrists to manage the care of patients and determining the appropriate course of psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Certified Nurse Practitioner (ARPN-CNP) issued by the Maine State Board of Nursing.
