Microsoft Corporation Senior Fiber Delivery Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia

As a Senior Fiber Delivery Engineer on the Cloud Interconnection + Acquisitions (CI+A) Team you will contribute to building a world-class network infrastructure by working with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a Fiber Delivery Engineer, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

  • Drive alignment to the goals and strategy of Microsoft with external customers, vendors, and suppliers and maintain good working relationships and communication channels.

  • Perform market research, conduct analyses, and examine customer and technology-related industry trends, as well as industry-specific requirements or regulations to solve complex Network Capacity Delivery matters, identify areas of opportunity, and lead process improvements.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to propose and design architecture and integrated customer solutions for product and service support.

  • Develop robust, scalable, and diversified operating procedures and strategies for Fiber Sourcing and Delivery segments.

  • Manage frontline technical projects with external suppliers by pulling and tracking construction schedules, including civils, permitting, cable overpulls, overlaying with E2E schedule and producing reports.

  • Manage governance programs and processes to ensure that specific performance requirements and standards are met throughout the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 2+ years of experience working with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits?

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
