Description:
Mercy Care is seeking a Risk Manager (Compliance, Integrity, Legal) to join our team, comprised of 300 plus colleagues. Mercy Care Atlanta is a healthcare organization that provides a range of health services to underserved and vulnerable populations in the Atlanta, Georgia area. This position is a combined position to include Compliance, Integrity, Privacy and Risk Management for Saint Joseph's Health System (SJHS) . In addition, position will have responsibility for managing all legal documents for SJHS . As the Chief Integrity and Privacy Officer (CIPO) at SJHS, you will play a pivotal role in fostering an ethical and compliant culture within our healthcare delivery system.
Position Summary:
Facilitate an ethical and compliant culture in SJHS’s healthcare delivery and business practices
Collaborate with Leadership Team to achieve compliance goals and requirements
Act as resource staff to SJHS Board Compliance & Integrity Committee
Provide leadership and direct responsibility in various areas including:
Annual compliance and privacy work plan
Compliance education and policy development
Investigation and resolution of compliance issues
Management reporting (to SJHS Board and Trinity Health)
Annual internal audits in collaboration with staff and Trinity Health
Participation in risk assessment and management
Serve as the internal subject matter expert on HIPAA
Ensure enforcement of privacy policies and HIPAA compliance
Oversee employee privacy training and develop HIPAA-compliant procedures
Conduct HIPAA risk assessments to evaluate existing policies and procedures
Monitor compliance with the privacy program and investigate incidents
Develop, manage, and implement processes to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
Coordinate privacy matters related to information systems with Director of Information Systems
Oversee implementation and maintenance of Risk Management & Patient Safety Program
Coordinate initiatives with Trinity Health's Insurance and Risk Management Services Department
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or other post-graduate degree in health services administration, clinical services, health care law, or related field of study is valued.valued
Minimum five years of healthcare industry experience
Leadership role and participation in compliance program activities and/or risk management
Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations and guidelines
Public relations, communication, and project management experience preferred
Broad knowledge of healthcare, compliance, government regulations, and risk management
Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills
Customer service orientation with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
