Description:

Mercy Care is seeking a Risk Manager (Compliance, Integrity, Legal) to join our team, comprised of 300 plus colleagues. Mercy Care Atlanta is a healthcare organization that provides a range of health services to underserved and vulnerable populations in the Atlanta, Georgia area. This position is a combined position to include Compliance, Integrity, Privacy and Risk Management for Saint Joseph's Health System (SJHS) . In addition, position will have responsibility for managing all legal documents for SJHS . As the Chief Integrity and Privacy Officer (CIPO) at SJHS, you will play a pivotal role in fostering an ethical and compliant culture within our healthcare delivery system.

Position Summary:

  • Facilitate an ethical and compliant culture in SJHS’s healthcare delivery and business practices

  • Collaborate with Leadership Team to achieve compliance goals and requirements

  • Act as resource staff to SJHS Board Compliance & Integrity Committee

  • Provide leadership and direct responsibility in various areas including:

  • Annual compliance and privacy work plan

  • Compliance education and policy development

  • Investigation and resolution of compliance issues

  • Management reporting (to SJHS Board and Trinity Health)

  • Annual internal audits in collaboration with staff and Trinity Health

  • Participation in risk assessment and management

  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on HIPAA

  • Ensure enforcement of privacy policies and HIPAA compliance

  • Oversee employee privacy training and develop HIPAA-compliant procedures

  • Conduct HIPAA risk assessments to evaluate existing policies and procedures

  • Monitor compliance with the privacy program and investigate incidents

  • Develop, manage, and implement processes to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations

  • Coordinate privacy matters related to information systems with Director of Information Systems

  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of Risk Management & Patient Safety Program

  • Coordinate initiatives with Trinity Health's Insurance and Risk Management Services Department

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or other post-graduate degree in health services administration, clinical services, health care law, or related field of study is valued.valued

  • Minimum five years of healthcare industry experience

  • Leadership role and participation in compliance program activities and/or risk management

  • Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations and guidelines

  • Public relations, communication, and project management experience preferred

  • Broad knowledge of healthcare, compliance, government regulations, and risk management

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills

  • Customer service orientation with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
