Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Receives and greets clients/visitors, answer telephones, collects and inputs client’s demographics and financial information, including insurance cards, billing authorization, signatures, consent forms and income verification. Verifies insurance, collects monies, and completes deposits, end-of-the day activities and schedule appointments. Input billing information using the Patient Care Network System, serve as the liaison between the client and medical support staff. Participates in health fairs or community events on weekends as requested 3-4 times a year.

Provides patient care and/ or support activities appropriate to ages served; primarily adults ages 18-65 or geriatric patients’ ages over 65. May also include care for infant age 0-1 year, child ages 1-12 years or adolescent ages 13-17 years.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School graduate, minimum of two years computer literacy, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Two to three years experience working in a private physician’s office or community health center preferred. Previous billing experience of at least one year working with Medicare, Medicaid, HMO’s and Commercial Insurance a plus.

Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. Experience and knowledge of OSHA and HIPAA guidelines preferred.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of medical terminology, with understanding of current ICD-10 and CPT Coding. Computer experience required. Knowledge of general office procedures (fax, copier, adding machine) required.
