Trinity Health Speech Language Pathologist, PRN in Athens, Georgia

Description:

Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician in accordance with the Practice Act for the State of Georgia. Applies a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech-language, oral motor, and hearing disorders. Performs specialized evaluations for dysphagia. Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital.

The Speech Language Pathologist must be duly licensed by the Georgia State Board. The therapist must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. The speech-language pathologist must hold a Master’s degree from an American Speech-Language Hearing Association accredited program and licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board. The therapist must also hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence. Speech Language Pathologists should have as a minimum, broad experience in a variety of different clinical settings through their ASHA accredited clinical internship programs.

The speech-language pathologist is required to have a comprehensive knowledge of Speech Therapy practices, procedures, and clinical skills. Should also be knowledgeable of required documentation and billing that satisfies the Georgia State practice act, JCAHO requirements, and meets the requirements of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurers.

Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate Speech Therapy treatments with other therapy providers, most notably Occupational Therapists (OTR’s), and Physical Therapists (PT’s). Must be able to work collaboratively with all other members of the St. Mary's Health Care System, including nurses, physicians, and hospital personnel. Must be able to deal constructively with conflict; collect, analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources and take appropriate action. Must be able to relate to physician referral sources and demonstrate excellent customer service. Must be willing and able to participate in clinical quality measurement and performance improvement programs as requested, and be in compliance with all of St. Mary's Health Care System policies and procedures.
