Job Summary

To Provide Sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair, tasks on one or more areas. Responsible for make ready duties in apartments & resident halls, maintenance and repair work of plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, air conditioning and refrigeration, landscape, furniture & equipment moving. Also responsible for the training of maintenance workers I’s.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance repair work on heating and air conditioning equipment. Performs semi-skilled electrical work.

  • Conducts daily Inspections of assigned areas and makes repairs where necessary. Performs preventative maintenance for life safety & security devices.

  • Performance emergency mechanical repairs until journeyman or supervisory personnel arrive.

  • Performs routines work orders to make repairs and to building systems.

  • Respond to storm & weather related needs for campus.

  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in performing a variety of sub-journeyman maintenance and repair tasks or the equivalent experience.

  • This job requires a Texas class “C” driver’s license.

  • Ability to effectively execute oral and written instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Three plus (3+) years of experience in preforming a variety of sub-journeyman maintenance and repair tasks.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of make-ready duties for multifamily housing including sheet rock replacement & repair, paint, electrical, plumbing, appliance repair, light carpentry, cabinetry, repairing ceramic tile, counter tops, vinyl tile & plank repairs, wall texture, door & hardware repairs & installation. (Pick-up trash & porter grounds)

  • Responds to storm & weather related needs for campus including, but not limited to (removal of snow, ice, trees, branches, etc.).

  • Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
