JOB SUMMARY:

The Pierce Manufacturing Youth Apprentice program is designed to provide an opportunity for high school students to gain exposure and experience to the materials and logistics field. The program is flexible and will accommodate various school schedules. This role will be responsible for assisting the materials team with material specific tasks to ensure the smooth flow of operations within the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Support standardization, advancement, and implementation of a lean enterprise material flow strategy.

  • Update critical ERP system parameters to align with the optimal materials strategy.

  • Maintain required documentation outside the ERP system as necessary to support ongoing monitoring and change management.

  • Assist with measurable improvement in parts shortages due to poor production and materials planning, inventory errors and damage within the facilities.

  • Compile data from ERP systems, spreadsheets, and other sources to support decision-making.

  • Assist in leveraging shop-floor lean material flow implementation experience to lead and support projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School/GED enrolled student.

  • Junior or senior standing

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Ability to use and understand linear measurements, Imperial and Metric Systems, and proficient in reading a tape measure and other measuring devises.

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Strong verbal and written skills
