Description:

The Nurse Manager, Patient Care Services for the Surgical Services department serves as a member of the Ministry Organization’s nursing leadership team. Responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, staffing and providing 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery, planning, and evaluation of services. Participates in and supports strategic development and outcomes management of nursing clinical areas.

Full Time Benefited Opportunity for an Operating Room (OR) Nurse Manager at Trinity Health Ann Arbor.

The selected candidate will be responsible directly responsbile for 73 FTE (92 headcount) and is responsible for 7 service lines, over 6,500 annual cases Cardiothoracic, General, Trauma/ACS, GYN, Urology, and Vascular.

The surgical services department at THAA is comprised of 19 ORs including one hybrid OR and performs approximately 12,500 cases in Main OR.The THAA OR offers 3 DaVinici Robots in MAIN OR, one in OSC, and we have achieved a Robotic Center of Excellence last year. We are a Level 1 Trauma program with Acute Care Surgery Model, achieving same day discharge for several service lines including fast track program for our Acute Care Surgery patients. We have active and engaged physician leadership and a hybrid OR program supporting structural heart and endovascular surgery.

Candidates with operating room experience and progressive leadership responsibilities in their roles such as Charge nurse, preceptor, supervisor are encouraged to apply.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required. Appropriate master's degree in nursing, Business or Health Administration preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years clinical nursing or leadership experience at the unit level in a related health care setting.

  • Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with and supports director and key leaders, groups and stakeholder audiences in the development and implementation of operational plans, goals and objectives.

  • Serves as a member of the nursing leadership team to participate in the development of the nursing strategic plan, short and long term goals and objectives, standards of care and operating plans for the assigned clinical area(s).

  • Collaborates with members of the inter-professional team and unit staff in the development, implementation, and monitoring of unit operating and capital budgets.

  • Develops, implements, and manages ongoing measurement, action planning, and evaluation methods related to all dimensions of performance inclusive of colleague engagement, patient and family experience, workplace safety, healthy work environments, clinical outcome and financial performance targets for the assigned clinical area(s).

  • Develops, implements, and monitors plans related to education and required competencies, orientation, retention, cultural competence, conflict management, and coaching of colleagues to ensure safe, quality, patient care for the assigned clinical area(s).

  • Ensures the recruitment, retention, development, mentoring and succession planning of engaged patient care colleagues within the assigned clinical area(s). Develops, promotes, and implements an environment of shared leadership and decision making.

  • Participates in evaluating, selecting, and integrating health care technology and information systems that support patient care.

  • In collaboration with the Director of Nursing and inter-professional team members, facilitates, develops, directs, manages, and monitors the implementation of effective evidence-based programs, policies, and protocols, to measure, analyze and continuously improve the safety and quality of patient care in the assigned clinical area(s).

  • Communicates and collaborates on a regular basis with nursing leaders, colleagues, inter-professional team about achievements and concerns related to patient safety, quality, patient loyalty, colleague engagement, and satisfaction. Develops and implements action plans to address concerns.
