Trinity Health Manager – Medical Staff Services - Credentialing in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Description:

The Manager – Medical Staff Services Trinity Health Ann Arbor and Livingston hospitals coordinates with the Director in managing the activities of the Medical Staff Office. Serves as the manager for Medical Staff Services colleagues, setting priorities and establishing workflow. Makes decisions exercising good judgment and confidentiality in accordance with Hospital and Medical Staff policies and procedures. Working closely with the Director, serve as the organizational leader for liaison with various hospital departments and/or functions in effecting changes; improving processes; handling communications, etc. as they relate to Medical Staff Services.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Education : Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or associated degree is required. Preferred CPCS or CPCSM certification.

Experience : A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience is desired. Business operations experience in healthcare required. Computer experience with a variety of systems.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Six Sigma and/or LEAN training preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate teams and implement change

  • Proven problem solving and project management skills

  • Financial management experience working with a variety of operational data

  • Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary in order to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises the Medical Staff Office staff including assigning work, delegating duties, recruiting staff, developing job descriptions, and providing performance evaluations.

  • Serves as the lead with medical staff leaders regarding the Medical Staff Bylaws.

  • Attends and leads as the content expert at the Medical Executive Committee, Credentials, Bylaws, and other committee meetings as requested by leaders.

  • Accountable for the development and expense management of the Medical Staff Office budget.

  • Works strategically with Quality and Performance Excellence leads to better integrate quality, credentialing and performance improvement processes.

  • Accountable for the TJC Medical Staff Chapter in consultation with the Director regarding Joint Commission review preparation, developing and implementing office policies and procedures as needed and recommend/required by TJC and/or state and federal practitioner credentialing regulations.

  • Manages the credentialing and reappointment process from initiation through the Board of Directors (BOD) approval for all physicians and advanced practice professionals, as required by THAA/LIVI Medical Staff Bylaws, policies and procedures, as well as National Association of Medical Staff Services and Joint Commission standards for credentialing. Supervises the notification of BOD actions on privileges to applicants and members of the medical staff and internal hospital directors.

  • Oversees the ongoing monitoring of credentialed practitioners and the focused professional practice evaluation process

  • Serves as the lead regarding information technology for the Medical Staff Office, including physician credentialing database, development and maintenance of communication systems, such as internal on-line practitioner privilege lists and directories.

  • Works with the Director to coordinate special projects on an as needed basis that add potential value to the menu of medical staff service items.
