Our Proposal Delivery Manager is responsible for developing technical estimates and written proposals that instill confidence with customers, distinguish us favorably from our competition, and can be profitably executed by Engineering and Operations. Additionally, this position is responsible for leading and training proposal engineers throughout the organization. This position is also responsible for coordinating all technical activities associated with proposals and maintaining proficiency with automation technologies by performing the following duties.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Participates in sales opportunity reviews and assists sales with strategy and technical approach.

    2. Works with Sales and Applications Engineers to develop complete, thoughtful, winning proposals and facilitates proposal process from qualification through approval.

    3. Coordinates proposal process within the team across multiple regions.

    4. Oversees and ensures adequate resources for proposal delivery team.

    5. Manages team performance and KPI reporting.

    6. Works with engineering team to develop technical solutions.

    JOB DUTIES

  • Team coordination companywide.

  • Participates in proposal and project kickoffs.

  • Works with the supply chain, coordinating efforts so that they can detail the hardware, design labor, and panel shop labor requirements for proposals.

  • Develops engineering labor estimates, working with other engineers and required.

  • Provides professional technical proposals, obtaining content and support from other engineers and required.

  • Provides professional technical proposals, obtaining content and support from other engineers as required.

  • Assists sales with proposal follow-up activities, such as clarifications, revisions, and closing.

  • Provides general coordination of technical proposal activities with other departments and partners.

  • Supports opportunity reporting and data updates in the Concept Systems CRM.

  • Maintains and implements improvements to proprietary company estimating tools, including the estimation spreadsheet.

  • Maintains proficiency with vendor estimating tools, including Rockwell Automation Proposal Works.

  • Periodically performs site visits and walk-throughs as part of the proposal process.

  • Develops a rapport with customers.

  • Periodically performs control engineering work to maintain proficiency (limited to in-house activities).

  • Regularly attends technology training to gain knowledge in state-of-the-art automation technologies.

  • Maintains relationships with automation partners.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B.S) from four-year college or university in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related discipline; and ten or more years of experience training in automation or controls and/or manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the team companywide. The ability to write clear requests for more technical information, and the ability to write clear explanations responding to technical questions. The ability to respectfully voice opinions and insights in group settings. Responds promptly to requests. The ability to write and convey clear proposals.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to perform calculations related to this role. The ability to calculate percentages, ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation of techniques.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    This position requires specialized computer skills. Must be adept at using various applications including Office 365 (Microsoft), report writing, project management, presentation creation, strong email communication and scheduling software. Ability to learn and use computerized accounting system, Rockwell Automation Proposal Works and CRM. Proficiency with PLC and HMI programming is ideal.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
