What you will do:

  • You will use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care, assisting surgeons and surgical teams to care for a patient before, during, and after surgery.

  • You will learn how to prepare the OR for surgery.

  • You will be trained to work in and understand different surgical specialties.

  • You will be trained to understand the different types of procedures and required equipment for each.

  • Ex. Of Surgical Specialties: Bariatrics, Colorectal, Ear, nose, and throat (ENT), General (surgeries that occur in the abdomen or for the major organs), Gynecological, Neurological and Spine, Orthopedic, Plastics, Robotics, and Thoracic.

In the procedure room:

  • As an OR RN you may serve as a scrub nurse, selecting and passing instruments and supplies used for the operation, or as a circulating nurse managing the overall nursing care in the operating room and helping to maintain a safe, comfortable environment.

What you will need:

  • A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York

  • Registered Nurses must possess the ability to assess, plan, direct, intervene and evaluate patient care.

  • The RN must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written.

  • MINIMUM of 1 year of RN Acute Medical/Surgical/Endo experience required.

  • BLS Required.

  • ACLS required (Can be provided during orientation)

  • Telemetry Training (Can be acquired during orientation)

Pay Range: $35*- $49.95*"

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.”
