Community Support Services Inc 2nd Shift - Resident Assistant - Behavioral Health in Akron, Ohio

$500 Signing Bonus for full-time positions

*The Opportunity: *We are seeking to hire a Residential Aide to join our Residential Treatment Teams. This individual will provide assistance to residents in various residential settings in the community and will provide training and support to the extent determined by each individual's service plan. This role is different from many Residential Aide positions as these are hands-off facilities -- there is no expectation for bathing, dressing, grooming, etc. of residents.

 

Seeking to Fill:

2^nd^ shift 3:00 -- 11:00 pm -- full-time (Thurs-Mon, Sun-Thurs)

 

What You'll Do:

  • Implement programming on a one-on-one training basis. Assist in the formulation of the individual's service plan, when appropriate.
  • Make observations and complete progress notes in accordance with established agency procedures.
  • Assist and train individuals in daily living skills such as laundry, cleaning, cooking, communication and social skills, recreation, grocery shopping, personal hygiene, and self-care skills as indicated in the individual's service plan.
  • Monitor residents' self-administration of medications according to agency procedures to ensure that proper dosages are taken at specified time intervals.
  • Assist individuals in the proper use of their funds.
  • Monitor the facility grounds and individual living area for appropriate behavior of residents and guests. Redirect residents as appropriate.
  • Assist in crisis resolution using the least restrictive intervention in accordance with established agency procedures.
  • Provide resident/client transportation to activities of daily living as needed.
  • Meet occasionally with Site Supervisor regarding general problems and concerns pertaining to individuals served and their community adjustment.

     

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience working with the emotionally impaired or developmentally disabled or similar impairments preferred.
  • A car and a valid Ohio driver's license and insurability through the Agency's insurance carrier required.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • A deeply held belief in CSS's recovery-centered mission.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse challenged.
  • Successful compliance with the background screening and requirements of Ohio Administrative Code 5122-30-31.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, following rules of HIPAA.
  • Ability to work a flexible, varied schedule
  • Ability to work non-judgmentally with individuals whose behavior and belief systems are incongruent with that of society and/or your personal beliefs.
