Job Summary
The Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) is a master’s prepared counselor who is a part of dynamic treatment dedicated to providing effective therapeutic and preventative services to individuals, families, and communities affected by substance use.
Counselors must be committed to the disease concept while utilizing the 12-step process. Duties include substance abuse screenings, treatment needs assessment, individual/group/family counseling, facilitating treatment and crisis intervention for adolescents and adults affected by substance abuse, addiction, and dual diagnosis issues.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, counselors develop measurable and patient-centered treatment goals. All counselors and trainees must maintain compliance with documentation requirements pursuant to state, federal and agency regulations.
This position requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality pursuant to HIPAA and 42 CFR, Part 2 guidelines and agency policies.
Education and/or Experience
A Master's Degree is required.
2-4 years related experience and/or training is preferred.
Preferred candidates will have clinical experience facilitating group therapy sessions and providing individual counseling services.
Preferred candidates will also have experience working with clients having co-occurring addictive disorders in conjunction with mental health conditions.
Clinical experience with couples and/or family therapy is desired.
License/Certification/Registration
Licensed Addiction Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Must have completed all academic and work experience requirements for Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), apply for certification, and successfully pass IC&RC’s Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ADC) Written Examination or must be a LPC or LCSW licensed in the South Dakota Addiction Counselor Trainee recognition status and obtainment of the Licensed Addiction Counselor within 36 months of hire.
BLS –Basic Life Support
CPI –Crisis Prevention Intervention
Licensed Addictions Counselor preferred.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday; 80 hours every 2 weeks
8:00 am - 5:00 pm, 12:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Occasional weekend
Occasional holiday
Occasional call time
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. The actual hourly rate is dependent upon experience.
$28.75 - $43.50 per hour
