*OhioMeansJobs|Cleveland-Cuyahoga County is sourcing an Ambulette Driver FT or PT for a Health Care driving company in Westlake. *

A Company driver shall be responsible for picking consumer's up at their home/residence and escorting them to the appropriate, and scheduled location for medical /other appointments in a safe wheelchair accessible van.

The driver shall properly log all trips, and have signatures completed at completion of all Funs. The driver shall be responsible for providing courteous service, with a knowledge of aging and age elated ailments they may encounter in their providing these services. The driver will adhere to strict guidelines as set forth by Company LLC.

  1. Driver must possess a current and valid driver's license with fewer than 6 points against them. Ideally have only 2 points.
  2. Driver must be able to obtain a signed statement from licensed physician maintaining that they do not have a medical or physical condition, including visual impairment, that would interfere with safe driving.
  3. Driver must be able to successfully complete a drug and alcohol test, conducted by a laboratory prior to hiring.
  4. Driver must be able to successfully complete a training course in First aid and CPR prior to hiring.
  5. Driver must be able to understand written and oral instructions and be able to document clearly as needed.
  6. Driver must complete Defensive driving course prior to hire and maintain coarse 3years.
  7. Driver must complete training course addressing transportation of older persons and complete every 3 years as needed. Wage starts at $13 an hour every time you pass a training course your wage will increase to a maximum of $15 an hour.

     

[Typical physical activities required of a driver at Company, LLC]{.underline}

  • Normal operation of vans and minivans throughout the shift
  • Filling out paperwork with a pen
  • Texting and calling with dispatch throughout the shift
  • Opening of doors to access various facilities
  • Pushing and pulling wheelchair-bound people, most normal weight, but some very heavy (e.g., 500 pounds); and sometimes up and down ramps, some of which might be steep Assisting ambulatory clients who have difficulty walking, especially up and down steps (e.g., letting them hold on to your arm for support)
  • Bending down and/or getting on hands and knees to secure wheelchairs to the floor of the van, and again to unsecure them
  • Unfolding and folding ramps in our minivans, and operating automatic hydraulic lift in full-size vans (by simply pushing buttons on controller)
  • Rarely, manually operating hydraulic lift if power fails (involves repeatedly pumping a lever)
  • Sanitizing vans (e.g., wiping surfaces)
  • Performing many of the above duties while wearing a facial covering (at least in the current public health environment)

Shift  32 - 48 hours depending on FT or PT worker 6 am to 3 pm or 8 am to 4 pm  Monday through Saturday  Requires Driver License with 6 points less.
