JOB SUMMARY: Conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials and in-process and finished product formulations. Perform biochemical and/or chemical analyses of product to ensure stability. Compile data for documentation. Calibrate and maintain lab equipment.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work on problems of moderate scope requiring analysis of identifiable factors of the situation or data.Conduct routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials and in-process and finished product formulations according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).Perform biochemical and/or chemical analyses of product to ensure stability. Compile data for documentation of test procedures that may include biochemical and chemical assays, stability program testing and formulation studies. Record and document Quality Control test results and manufacturing processes in controlled documents or notebooks. Authorized to sign-off on notebook entries; obtain sign-off on completed documents. Participate in the preparation of investigations, summaries and reports. Review data obtained for compliance to specifications and report abnormalities.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in a scientific discipline required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Up to 2 years of related experience and/or training; Clinical or Industrial Laboratory experience a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to work under a moderate level of independence performing duties receiving general instructions for routine work and detailed instructions for new assignments. Ability to understand and execute technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and operating procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of peers, customers and managers. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, sampling theory, population variance and proportions. Ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to read, interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Strong analytical skills.Basic SAP system knowledge and capabilities preferred. Strong PC skills required with functional use of Word and Excel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Laboratory environment with exposure to bio-hazard material, chemicals and instrumentation. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Personal protective equipment and/or clothing required. Noise level varies from low to moderate.
