*Job Summary: *The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the preparation, examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the Provider. Appropriately and professionally assisting patients during the examination and assisting the Provider. Assist the PSR with front desk duties when necessary.

*Summary of Accountabilities:*

Prepares exam rooms for patients. Escorts patients to and from exam room. Provides clinical summay. Coordinates care across all entities. Provides education in self-management information to patients as needed. Validates and documents preferred provider information. Ensures medical records and transition of care. Assist Provider with examination of patients when needed. Records patient information into electronic medical record. Maintains strict HIPPA compliance at all times. Offers highest quality clinical services and customer service at all times to patients and their families. Assists with answering of telephones and all patient inquiries. Completes accurately all check-in and check-out activities/procedures. Responsible for medication reconciliation. Abstracting and preparation of patient records. Participates in staff meetings and participates in quality improvement initiatives. Responds to family, visitors and staff in a positive manner. Determines that all laboratory test and hospital discharge information, as well as ER adminssions are included in the electronic record and up-to-date. Assist with ordering, tracking and follow-up with all laboratory, diagnostic testing and referrals. Where applicable, uses standing orders and communicates all results to patients. Manages pre-visit planning as assigned. Accurately adds information to the patient's electronic medical record including information clinically necessary for Meaningful Use requirements. Maintain current information on patients (name change, address, insurance updates). Obtaining pre-certifications and prior authorizations for prescriptions. Communicate concerns/patient issues with Providers. May be asked to perform electrocardiogram, rapid streptococcus tests, breathing treatments, draw blood, prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, complete urine tests or prepare for analysis, injections and all other procedures as directed by the Provider(s). Leads or participates in huddles two to three times per day, if chosen. Assists with any additional duties as needed or as directed by Office Manager/Coordinator and/or Regional Administrator and Provider(s). Coverage of other practices as needed the will require travel to the alternate location. This will be at the discretion of the Office Manager/Coordinator and/or Regional Administrator.

*Minimum Certifications, Registry and/or Licenses Required: *Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant

*Minimum Degree Required and Experience Required: *High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; minimum three years experience as a Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant preferred. Must be a certified Medical Assistant from a State of NJ recognized school.

Skill Requirements:

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients, hospital departments, organizations and the public. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with ICD10 and CPT coding preferred. Ability to draw blood and administer injections. Knowledge of sterile techniques and proper technique for blood and urine specimen collection, preparation, storage and delivery. Ability to perform diversified duties with a high degree of accuracy. Good command of the English language both orally and written.

Ability to see and hear within normal limits with or without use of corrective devices

Motor dexterity of hands and fingers.

Ability to utilize proper body mechanics

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds (without assistance)

Ability to frequently bend, lift, move and pull. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
