Stars and Spikes Volleyball Camp Director The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of Stars & Spikes Volleyball Camp Director for a Recreational Volleyball summer camp for children ages 8-14 where the emphasis is on FUN! The purpose of this position is to provide a positive learning environment, teach and demonstrate proper volleyball fundamentals and skills to campers and is responsible for supporting the success, safety, and fun of the camp program by collaborating on planning efforts, coordinating the training of leadership and seasonal staff, completing administrative tasks, and providing excellent customer service. Examples of Duties Demonstrate proper volleyball fundamentals. Teach and explain established rules and regulations governing volleyball, if necessary. Run drills, skills and exercises over a five-day period. Arrive twenty (20) minutes prior to the start of camp to set-up volleyball standards, nets, sign-in/sign-out table, etc. Develop, lead, and actively participate with children in various age-appropriate activities. Enjoys working with High School and College-aged staff, ability to work with campers (various ages), and communicate well with parents and guardians. Identify, monitor and respond to camper behavior issues effectively while using appropriate discipline techniques. Help to maintain a safe, clean summer program site. Ensure a high level of program quality and work to establish a positive relationship with all program participants and their families. Capable of managing multiple tasks and stepping into a program and/or administrative tasks. Serve as a positive role model to youth, teens and staff. Write and implement a weekly schedule for campers and staff. Organize and lead staff to facilitate a variety of small and large group activities each week Communicate with parents about participants\' experiences and report concerns to the Camp Director. Maintain accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance. Know, enforce, and follow safety guidelines/emergency procedures associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers safety and their whereabouts at all times. Render first-aid when necessary in view of the department\'s policy. Arrive to work on time, as scheduled. Perform other duties as assigned. Shift: Interested in working a schedule that does not include evenings or weekends? 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday (with some occasional pre-camp work required). This position is seasonal (summer) and must be available to work the entire timeframe of the sport specific camp. Stars & Spikes Volleyball Camp (June 24 - June 28, 2024) Salary: The salary range for this position is \$20.00-\$24.00 per hour. Qualifications Bachelor\'s Degree required OR Minimum 2 years of volleyball experience working with youth in a school or after school setting Previous experience as a volleyball official preferred. Demonstrated understanding of the rules and regulations of adult volleyball league. Excellent judgment and problem solving skills Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to resolve conflict in a professional, polite, equitable manner. Candidates must be reliable, flexible and creative Ability to work independently. Must have a valid Driver\'s License. Must hold valid CPR/First Aid Certifications at time of hire Minimum Age Requirement: Anyone 21 years of age and older as of June 24, 2024.
