Position Title Technician - CNC Machinist Department Mechanical Vacancy Number 19-ME-04 Work Location Warner Robins, GA Hours Per Week 40 Job Type Classified Job Category MERC Responsibilities -Fabricates mechanical, electrical or electronic parts or tools from engineering drawings. -Performs diagnostic tests of mechanical, electrical or electronic parts or assemblies in conjunction with engineering. -Performs mechanical, electrical, or electronic functional assessments and makes recommendations to engineers. -Assembles, disassembles, repairs, and maintains mechanical, electrical or electronic systems or subsystems. -Setup and operate mills, lathes, drill press and other manual equipment. -Setup, adjust, and operate CNC to perform close tolerance turning, milling, and deburr operations. -Proof and edit programs and manually program machining instructions into computer. -Reviews blueprint for machining to be done and plans sequence of operations. -Performs other job related duties in related areas as assigned. Required Qualifications -CNC operator experience -U.S. Citizenship -High school diploma or GED -Will comply with all quality an d safety standards and rules -Complete work on-time and under budget -Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and proficiency at reading precision measuring instruments, such as, micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators -Must have knowledge of cutting tools and inserts for turning, drilling, boring, threading, and milling -Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements -Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines -Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required -Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring instruments -Must be able to maintain tolerance and finishes to engineering and manufacturing specifications Preferred Qualifications -Ability to obtain university approved driver card -Calculates and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and programs tool path, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media -Experience in application of anodizing, primer, paint, etc -Forklift operator experience -Welding experience Does this position require travel for University business in a rental car or University owned vehicle?
