PURPOSE AND SCOPE :

Fresenius Medical Care Ventures ( www.fmcv.com at http://www.fmcv.com/ ) is the external innovation, corporate investment arm of Fresenius Medical Care, a global leader in the dialysis services and devices market.

With End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) patients at the center of its focus, Fresenius Medical Care Ventures (FMCV) is seeking to make investments in a broad range of early-stage start-ups seeking to improve the lives of those dependent on dialysis. This includes start-ups from all fields of the life sciences, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, biotech and healthcare IT.

Supports FMCNA’s mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including following all regulatory and division/company policy requirements.

DUTIES / ACTIVITIES :

CUSTOMER SERVICE :

  • Responsible for driving the FMCNA culture through values and customer service standards.

  • Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.

  • Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :

For a newly created paid summer internship program, FMCV is seeking two graduate students to join our team for the summer.

Interns at FMCV can expect to take part in a variety of projects including:

  • Evaluation and due diligence of start-ups FMCV is seeking to invest in.

  • ‘Deep dive’ analyses into market segments that are strategic to Fresenius.

  • Business plan formulation for internal innovative Fresenius projects.

Within these projects, interns will have the opportunity to work on:

  • Healthcare economics modeling.

  • Economic and clinical market quantification and segmentation.

  • Competitive mapping and product comparisons.

  • Technology assessments.

  • Quantitative business modeling.

  • Regulatory, reimbursement and financial benchmarking.

  • Investment committee presentations.

EDUCATION :

  • Actively pursuing a graduate college degree in STEM, economics, medicine, finance or management consulting

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • At least two years of practical experience in life sciences

  • The ability to work independently and a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Experience mining a variety of online resources, such as EDGAR, FDA device and drug databases, NCBI and PitchBook.

  • Advanced skills in various Microsoft tools, incl. Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Oral and written command of the English language.
