TITLE: Pre -Sales Consulting Engineer
LOCATION: Virtual - Atlanta or Dallas/Fort Worth
POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Are you a solution specialist, or have in-depth product expertise, and want to own the sales strategy and related customer-facing presentations for your solution portfolio? Do you enjoy presenting and demonstrating, and organizing “win” strategies against the competition?
We’re seeking a seasoned product specialist for the NCR Hardware Portfolio. The candidate will need to be well versed in speaking to the breadth of the NCR POS Hardware Solutions and peripherals sold into the Retail industry, primarily; Grocery, Department Specialty and Petroleum Convenience Retail.
The specialist will have experience in pre-sales, working independently and tandem with Account Executives in identifying new opportunities within the NCR customer base as well as net new opportunities. The primary objectives of this position are to build a robust sales pipeline for their solutions and help win the business per plan.
The Solution Specialist is a strategic member of the Sales organization, responsible for the success and growing market opportunity for your designated solution portfolio. This multi-faceted position includes opportunity to showcase your sales, technical, and messaging skills to prospects, customers, NCR employees, and industry influences.
As a Solution Specialist, you will coordinate and execute demonstrations and RFPs, ensure proper positioning of the solutions in the market, and collaborate with the product management, marketing, services, and sales teams to ensure product success in the market.

Key Areas of Responsibility include:
Develop and support sales opportunities for the NCR Hardware Portfolio, including peripherals such as scanners, printers and cash drawers.
Build and maintain solution battle (sales) plan and related sales pipeline that serves as a catalyst for activities.
Execute against product sales plans to achieve goals, including coordination with Account Executives, System Engineer, Marketing, Services team, as directed by Sales leadership.
Plan and prepare for prospect and customer sales presentations, including presentations, demonstrations, collateral delivery, etc.
Establish and maintain high level of positive and effective contact with key customers to enhance opportunities for references, case studies, and new sales opportunities.
Maintain constant awareness of markets, competitor activities and problems within relevant customer base, recognize trends that develop, and make appropriate recommendations.
Maintain accurate and timely activity in SalesForce.com and other corporate systems, including opportunities, forecasts, expense plans, travel plans, etc.
Assist in the creation of accurate proposals to customers and prospects as it relates to designated solution areas.
Work closely with and maintain good working relationships with areas such as Services, Development, Marketing, Finance and Product Management to ensure both customer and company requirements are met or exceeded.
Bachelor’s degree desired
5+ years of experience in pre-sale or solution selling expertise
5+ years of experience in the retail industry
Deep understanding of retail solutions.
Prior success leading in cross-functional or collaborative environments.
Extensive experience in business-to-business software systems is a plus.
SalesForce.com, web-based demonstration skills, (Webex) experience, a plus.
Reports directly to the Solution Sales Leader
Successful software track record in the retail / supply chain segments, especially the grocery, convenience, fuel, and drug, discount and specialty verticals.
Excellent presentation and value-selling skills, including ability to separate benefit from feature, and delineate competitive differentiators.
Highly motivated and tenacious in the pursuit of targeted clients.
Must be a successful self-contributor with strategic opportunities
