PAY RANGE: $97,300 - $121,600
Scheduled Work Hours:Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Manager of Training directs and monitors all field & technical training for delivery operations and related groups. This includes, but not limited to all field training initiatives consisting of skilled craft apprentice training, targeted training for craft positions, and all external training initiatives through NUITF (National Utility Industry Training Fund.). this position is responsible for collaborating with local area technical schools and other organizations to build relationships that support Evergy’s recruiting and educational efforts.
•Lead a high performing team of trainers to develop and support our trainers and delivery operations with the training needed to do their jobs the right way.
•Collaborate with delivery operations at all levels to ensure we are prioritizing correctly and providing value added training that is an investment not a cost.
•Develop, execute, and continually improve effective and efficient apprentice and targeted training inclusive of diverse training delivery methods.
This includes creating and maintaining on-demand training materials such as short videos.
Meaningful training reporting must be updated and communicated with work groups on a regular basis.
•Assure the welfare of the public and Evergy employees by ensuring that all safety & training standards and practices meet or exceed Federal and Company safety & training requirements with an ongoing goal of achieving an accident-free workplace.
•Ensure effective and efficient Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees are in place for the betterment of the applicable apprenticeships.
•Promote and Support the current cultural and economic direction of the corporation through consistent communication and leadership with the apprentices and the workforce.
Education and Experience Requirements:
An Associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent experience. A minimum of five years electrical distribution system experience with preference given to line construction, design, or operations experience. A minimum of three years supervisory experience is preferred along with knowledge of the collective bargaining process.
A minimum of five years’ experience with line construction standards and safety policies is preferred.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
•Strong oral and written communication and leadership skills to effectively communicate to the workforce, senior management, and external customers.
•Strong working knowledge and understanding of DOL apprenticeship training, skilled craft refresher training requirements as well as OSHA and other compliance training federal organizations.
•Knowledge of Human Performance Improvement to integrate these principles into our training.
•Strong standard MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills to use tools effectively in analyzing training needs.
Normal office working environment.
Some daytime and overnight travel may be required.
Must have excellent work record including attendance.
