South Georgia Medical Center INTERN in United States
Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Support Services or Hospice Social Worker (as assigned), the Hospice Social Worker Intern provides supportive services to meet patient/family/caregiver social, emotional, and economic needs in relation to the impact of a terminal illness, including assisting with bereavement support as indicated. May also participate in the provision of grief counseling/stress management services to hospice staff, volunteers, and others within the community. The Hospice Social Worker Intern actively participates in at least one hour of supervision with Field Instructor each week. Responsible to represent HOSG and its services in a competent, professional manner consistent with the organization's culture of service and teamwork.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required active enrollment in a school of Social Work accredited or approved by the Council on Social Work Education required.
Experience with Hospice or Palliative Care preferred.
Required adherence to the hospice philosophy and ability to work as member of interdisciplinary team in meeting the unique needs of the terminally ill.
Must have positive attitude with demonstrated ability to handle delicate situations and to communicate effectively with members of the hospice team, patients/families, and community agencies/institutions.
Must possess ability to work non-judgmentally with persons of diverse cultural, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds and lifestyles.
Must be self motivated with strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, handle pressure, and utilize critical thinking/problem-solving techniques.
Demonstrated ability to respond well to supervision and work independently with minimal direction and appropriate collaboration when required.
Ability to operate clinical equipment as well as office equipment such as computers, telecommunications devices, etc.
Must have current Georgia driver's license with satisfactory driving record and the availability of a reliable, licensed and insured vehicle for use on the job.
Must have current CPR certification.
