Director, Marketing Partnerships, Asia Pacific

The Director of Asia Pacific Marketing Partnerships is responsible for pitching, negotiating and executing pan-regional and global third-party partnerships on the studio’s tentpole releases, with brands headquartered in the APAC region. This role would deliver substantial incremental marketing support on an annual basis.

This position reports to SVP, International Marketing Partnerships (Home Office-based) and will be based in Singapore.

Job responsibilities include:

  • In consultation with SVP, International Marketing Partnerships, develop regional pitching strategy and create regional pitch lists of target companies who are thematically appropriate to each film title.

  • Work with Home Office to develop tailored pitch materials, and present partnership opportunities to senior marketing executives at target companies.

  • Conceptualize partnerships for key brand partners to tell the story of how and why the film partnership can deliver of the brands’ objectives.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with C-level marketing executives in the region to facilitate long-term collaborations with regional brands.

  • Negotiate partnership agreements in coordination with SVP and Legal Counsel that take into account media exposure, creative execution and ancillary revenue opportunities.

  • Keep in regular contact with all key Asia-Pacific territories’ Promotions Managers and Promotions Agents to identify regional opportunities that might originate from local conversations.

  • Proactively collaborate with Home Office Media team and with regional Media buying agency to identify partnership opportunities among their client roster.

  • Supervise execution of regional deals by acting as a liaison between the brands, the local markets and Home Office.

  • Uncover and leverage opportunities to maximize the program, via collaboration with other Sony marketing functions.

  • Work closely with Marketing team in all markets in Asia-Pacific including the key territories of Greater China, Australasia, India, Japan, South Korea and South East Asia to exploit opportunities for promotions that will benefit franchise releases.

  • Maintain a current knowledge of regional advertising, marketing and promotions trends, as well as reporting competitive promotions as inspiration to Home Office and the Asian territories.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus

  • 8+ years in brand partnerships, sales and/or entertainment industries

  • English fluency required, plus fluency in at least one other language such as Mandarin, Korean or Japanese

  • Excellent sales and presentation skills required

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills required – much of the job requires working with other departments, divisions and representatives from various countries

  • Candidate should possess a strong knowledge of regional brand structures throughout the Asia-Pacific region

  • Excellent attention to detail, superior written, verbal and organizational skills

  • Must be solution-oriented

  • Must be a highly motivated, independent self-starter and team player

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint

  • Must be able to travel for pitch meetings in other territories.
