Merck Executive Director, Digital COE & Marketing Operations Leader in Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania

TheLeader, Digital COE & Marketing Operations will be responsible for establishing and evolving a shared services center of expertise to support our digital marketing activities across the portfolio of products within the US Market. The goal in establishing this COE is to sustain and evolve our capabilities, create better integration and alignment across key functions, and enable efficient resource deployment. The Leader will be empowered to shape and adjust the roadmap as she/he evaluates the services and capabilities required to enable our omni-channel engagement through our digital marketing teams.

This strategic shared services COE is comprised of the following each managed by a Director reporting into the Leader - Customer Engagement Capability Development and Deployment, Channel Strategy and Digital Publishing, Medial Planning, Content Automation & Promotion Operations, Medical Education and Promotion Management.

The Leader will be responsible for driving and evolving our vision, supporting the growth of our digital capabilities and be committed to the delivery of an omni channel approach to campaigns to support a best in class customer experience.

The Leader, Digital COE &Marketing Operations will work closely withour Leader, Digital Customer Engagement Factory (DEF) and report in to our AVP,Market Operations and other key stakeholders including operations, IT, and marketing. He/she will ensure expertise and capacity of on-call resources in support of our digital engagement teams and will be expected to continually evaluate shared services offerings and feasibility. Understand needs & trends and propose appropriate solutions- playing an active role in change management and communications.

The Leader must understand the available digital capabilities, identify additional desired capabilities and work collaboratively to build. Additionally, be able to define how current business processes need to change to enable these capabilities. Ensure solution success and commitments are met according to plan

Engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to seek inputs on requirements and to socialize status / influence results through transition of work and teams to new model

We employ an AGILE methodology within the digital factory model and would expect the COE to scale the same as appropriate. We look to use a flexible and fungible talent model when relevant in support of our people priorities and commitment to empowerment, inclusion and continuous learning.

Required Skills, Exp,education

  • Bachelor’sdegree required.

Digital marketing operations experience, specifically,

  • 10 years’ experience in marketing emphasis ondigital marketing, communications, and/or commercialization of productsor services.

  • Business development or transformation workincluding work in Shared Services Centers.

Ability to identify future capability needs and develop roadmap to build and evolve the COE

  • Being open minded, tech savvy, processoriented, able to speak the business language

  • Comfortable establishing new serviceofferings and dealing with ambiguous or unknown “start-up” challenges,and addressemerging organizational needs

Collaboration & Influence (at all levels)

  • Ability tointerface at all levels within the organization, across multiple groups andcross function team experiences with ability to install confidence and trust.

  • Internal and external client facingchange initiative experience, business process improvement, and strategicbusiness planning

Leadership & mindset

  • Leadership skills to engage businessleadership and leverage talent in a matrix organization

  • Problem solving, analytical skills, exceptionalfollow through

Agile - Experience working within and leading in an AGILE team framework

Communication skills

  • Excellent communication skills–facilitation, listening, negotiation, presentation, speaking, &writing needed to brief high-level management and the COE

  • Ability toexecute strategy translating action and performance of project solutions forstakeholders

People management

  • Ability to effectively manageteams in times of ambiguity and change

  • Cross-cultural sensitivity

Preferred Skills

  • MBA or relevant master’s degree strongly preferred

  • Second line people management, ideally havingled large commercial teams
