ProMedica Health System Supervisor, Courier Operations - Afternoons Full Time - Drivers in Toledo, Ohio

Oversees courier staff and day-to-day operations, largely on afternoon/evening shift. Manages courier schedules, payroll, training and performance to meet service standards.

ACCOUNTABILITIES All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise 1. Oversees and directs daily workflow for courier activities. Interviews, hires, assigns work duties, establishes goals and performance standards in conjunction with the Director. Ensures effective interdepartmental communication, team building and staff development by using any, and all tools deemed appropriate and necessary including maintaining visibility and accessibility, providing on-going feedback on performance, ensuring an effective annual performance appraisal process and holding regular departmental meetings. Administers discipline when necessary and recommends discharge when appropriate. Takes ownership of employee satisfaction data; ensures availability to discuss concerns with staff and communicates effectively. 2. Develops and encourages staff development through identification of educational needs. Coordinates orientation and training for new associates. Takes ownership of employee satisfaction; ensures effective communication with staff through mechanisms such as staff meetings, daily huddles, and site rounding. Ensures availability to discuss employee concerns and communicates schedule/contact information clearly and consistently. 3. In conjunction with Director, manages staff schedules as well as payroll in myTime. Is accountable for monitoring staffing levels to meet operational targets. May participate in annual budget preparation. 4. Evaluate and proof for accuracy daily, make corrections and submitting end-of-month billing to the Director and when billing is completed and approved by Director then submit to the assigned accounting staff monthly and timely. 5. Ensures adequate quantities of supplies. Evaluates and provides input on new/updated equipment and supplies. 6. Resolves inquiries and concerns; acts as a resource and fosters effective communication between courier and customers. 7. Establishes, interprets and monitors compliance with policies and procedures. Participates on teams to review and improve working processes and procedures. Completes and reviews RL6, serving as the L1 for feedback files. 8. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, Workshops, and conferences. Functions as a role model through preceptoring and acting as a resource person. 9. Will have some after hours responsibilities for this 7 x 24 operation. Shares emergency calls with Director. 10. Supervisor serves as Lead in the absence of the Director. 11. Other duties as assigned by the Director. Education: Associate degree in business, operations, organizational learning, or related field. Willing to accept 5 years of progressive leadership experience in lieu of degree. Skills: Must be able to move about and between work areas. Requires travel to various worksites, up to 50% of the time. Must have excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills. Ability to operate computer and peripheral equipment. Ability to communicate in person and/or via telephone. Must have basic math skills and be able to compile statistics. Ability to maintain filing systems and logs. Must have the ability to deal effectively with a changing environment and be open to new ideas. Years of Experience: Must be 21 years of age. 2 years of courier, transportation or supervisory experience License: Valid drivers license and a clean driving record, as demonstrated by a MVR in order to be covered under the Company’s insurance policy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, organizational learning or similar field. Years of Experience: 5 or more years of Supervisory experience

WORKING CONDITIONS Personal Protective Equipment: Non-sterile medical gloves. Physical Demands: Occasionally lifts/carries/pushes/pulls more than 30 pounds. Frequent reaching/stooping/bending/kneeling/crouching. Frequent prolonged standing/walking/sitting. Lifts/positions/pushes/and/or transfers patients. Must be able to read and speak the English language. Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently, or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must be able to handle crisis or emergency situations. Works mainly in a motor vehicle. May be exposed to inclement driving and working conditions. May be exposed to bio-hazardous substance, odorous/hazardous/toxic chemical and/or specimens, cuts, unpleasant elements (accident/injury/illness). Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens from blood and/or bodily fluids. Regularly exposed to infection/contagious disease.
