Position Summary:

Performs a variety of procedures designed to test and treat cardiovascular disease and irregularities of the heart. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles and specific age groups that are served by this position.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Monitor patient’s heart rate to help diagnose and treat heart problems.

  2. EKG testing 12-lead single analysis cardiographic rhythm.

  3. Performs diagnostic test to include electrocardiography (EKG’s), stress echocardiogram, pharmalogical, non-pharmalogical stress test, holter monitor hook-ups, and holter scanning analysis.

  4. Prepares and explains the procedures to the patients.

  5. Reviews tracings and alerts proper medical personnel of patients with serious arrhythmias.

  6. Operates EKG machines to detect and record the electronic impulses transmitted by the heart during and between heartbeats.

  7. Performs assessments on patients of various conditions and ages

  8. Assist physicians during procedures.

  9. Provide data for diagnosis of heart ailments.

  10. Complies with laboratory policies, technical procedures, safety rules and infection control policies.

  11. Maintains crash cart and defibrillator.

  12. Keeps work area clean and stocked.

  13. Calibrates and prepares equipment.

  14. Stays abreast of current trends of technology and procedures.

  15. Manages holter monitors and event monitor processes including hook-up, facilitating report generation and entering reports into EMR.

  16. Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Required:

Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of Cardiovascular/Allied Health training program preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Four years experience in a healthcare setting.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
