Communications Consultant

  • Consult with key stakeholders and SMEs in relation to their communication needs, as appropriate and gather missing information or data for clarity.

  • Serve as Communications lead helping assist and mentor other copywriters and graphic designers.

  • Follow and promote Language Guidelines and Terminology.

  • Ensure client satisfaction through the delivery of high-quality writing and deliverables both internal and external facing.

  • Assist in project management and sprint planning with Communications Manager.

  • Develop comprehensive communication project plans, including managing project plan timeline and print budget, raising any scope and solution issues.

  • Strong subject area / industry knowledge such as retirement/pension benefits, health and well-being, flexible benefits programs, engagement surveys, compensation, and general employee communications. Translate industry material to easy-to-understand language, having regard to target audience, including working on compliance documentation.

  • Assist in the writing of educational presentations/seminars as required.

  • Demonstrate flexibility in adapting content and style to different audiences.

  • Ability to identify and raise internal or external project dependencies, issues and risks that affect delivery, including team function issues and develop mitigating strategies to drive the project forward People Proof and edit the team's work as required, in accordance with Willis Towers Watson's quality procedures and principles.

  • Actively participate in meeting team objectives.

  • Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively with other lines of business.


  • Bachelors degree required in relevant field, for example, English, Journalism, or Communications.

  • All candidates must submit writing samples or a portfolio link that highlights their writing skills/samples. No Google Docs or DropBox as WTW firewalls block those.

  • Specific experience in the Medical Benefits and Consumer-Directed Healthcare Accounts industry required.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a copywriter in related industry and 1-2 years as a lead writer or manager.

  • Required experience within similar industries such as retirement/pension benefits, health and well-being, flexible benefits programs and general employee communications.

  • Creative flair, with demonstrated ability to convert technical information into plain English, within bounds of relevant compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent written, interpersonal and presentation communication skills.
